Good news! Red Country has made the New York Times hardcover Bestseller list. Now, admittedly, the NYT extended list goes up to no. 35, which makes it an easier list to get onto than the Sunday Times, which goes up to only 10., and I crept in at 27 but, hey, it all counts, and at a tough time of year to boot. My thanks to the folks at Orbit US for their hard work in making it happen.
I’m a New York Times bestseller, biatches. Now you have to take me seriously…

Congrats on making the NYT bestseller list. I was able to purchase RED COUNTRY last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. I shall definitely be back for your next literary venture.
Excellent news. I am very happy for you. Sales of other books should be reinvigorated!
Excellent news!
As for being your biatch – “It don’t concern these. Shall we head outside?”
Congrats Joe!! I read it in 3.5 days…I just could not make it last longer than that, and I tried my hardest! Another masterpiece! What is next? Another stand alone, or another trilogy? How about a prequel trilogy of Logan??!!
Bought it on kindle, do they have a list for that?
When was it ever so acceptable to read fantasy fiction? The same people who sniggered when I was reading David Gemmell are now all fans of ‘adult fantasy”.
Celebrate with a Reddit AMA.
Bravo! Only a matter of time, that.
Now, by the dead, when are you coming to tour the US?
Well done Joe. I honestly can’t understnd why you didn’t get there for Best Served Cold, it is a great book, and what the fork was it up against at the time?.
Anyway, you just bask happily in the glow of your well deserved praises for another week, maybe ten days.
Then crack on with catching us up with Ferros further adventures and the like. Books don’t write themselves, as I guess you know!. 🙂
How can you be “an” NYT bestselling author with such poor spelling?
😛
Congratulations!
Is there an over/under on the OBE?
@ErikNL: Well, it depends on if you read it as the abbreviation NYT or if you read it as “New York Times”. The former would be preceeded by “a”, the latter by “an”… 🙂
Excellent work, congrats.
I just ploughed through the audio version the last couple of days… Well not ploughed, makes it sound like hard work. Plundered perhaps. Was great. Glad they got Steven Pacey back to read it, nothing against the other guy but he got the voices right, to my mind. I now feel a little bereft having finished it, May have to reread TBI.
ErikNL – It is grammar and not spelling. Anyway “An” is correct here since the letter N start with a vowel sound. If you spell out “New York Times” then you start with ‘A’, but if you use “NYT” you start with “An”.
No mate, She uses a sword to tap your shoulder, not a shotgun.
“We dub thee Sir Joe, for your services to the Empire in the field of gritty fantasy writing”
?.
😛
Congratulations Joe. I think Red Country is my favorite of the books so far. If you give up on the fantasy silliness you could write some westerns.
Me and 13 of My frinds got your book We love your work and like i tell your 4 Years in NYC Comic com i am Hope someone take your books and make at real bad tv show with it and u get pay 🙂
Congrats, Joe! And might I add well fucking deserved. Red Country was brilliant.
Your stories are some of the best I’ve ever had the immense pleasure of reading, and that is not the sort of compliment I’d give if it weren’t true. That you’ve written six incredible novels in such a relatively short time is legitimately awe-inspiring, and makes me proud to be a part of your dedicated following before it inevitably becomes a legion.
As long as you’re writing, I’ll be reading (and telling anyone who will listen that they should be reading too). Thank you for doing what you do.
Well done and well deserved!
Yay! Well done Joe for flying the flag for British Fantasy writers. Thoroughly deserved.
Just checked the list and you were beaten by FIFTY SHADES OF CHICKEN at number 7, and I COULD PEE ON THIS at number 13 . . . . illustrious company Joe, I applaud you 🙂
^Scratch that, I was looking at the “Advice & Misc” list! Doh!
Dear Joe,
Bought The Heroes in August, followed up the trilogy and am now reading Best Served Cold. Red Country awaits on my Kindle.
Am loving your stuff, and I haven’t read *any* fantasy since ‘The Eternal Champion’ sequence about ten years ago.
Have just finished the part of BSC where they audition the entertainer / assassins in their old warehouse. I enjoyed it so much I felt the happiness endorphins popping in my Swede. I re-read the chapter twice. How you managed to hijack several groovy seventies heist movies and ease them into a fantasy novel makes me take my hat off to you sir.
In fact my only criticism, which is relatively minor, is the sex scenes. Blimey they were ugly. I suppose that was the point, but it jarred with the vibe for me. Given how successfully you hint at her other *ahem* historic relationship it was doubly odd.
No matter, that minor hiccup doesn’t detract from the triumph that is the rest of your stuff and I’ve bought it all with hard-earned Earth Money! More power to your quill, Abercrombie.

Any news abut tv show or movies ???
News from East Central Illinois, Joe: RED COUNTRY is sitting on the high-profile “New Releases” table in our B&N–the one in the front of the store, not back in the SF/fantasy ghetto.
Congrats.
And may I say, it’s about damned time.
McDowski,
I entirely concur.
Congrats. Personally I bought 2 of them. One UK version and one US version. Had to have that bad ass UK cover.
Oh man.
Just finished Red Country and made it last almost a week. Difficult, but I learned my lesson from George RR Martion; read the latest slowly and savor it, because it may be a while for the next course.
Good stuff, very Clint Eastwood-y. My lady faire is now working her way through (devouring it like a glutton with absolutely no manners).
