Eve Abercrombie

March 25th, 2009

I don’t bore you with my personal life nearly as much as I bore you with nonsense about my writing, but I really had to make an exception on this occasion. My second daughter was born four days after term, on monday 23rd at 6.45 in the morning. She weighed five and a half pounds, tiny compared to Grace, who was a strapping nine when she was born. Anyway, mother and baby both home and doing well, but sleep, work, and posting may suffer in the next few weeks, if not the next eighteen years…

Say it with me: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

  • Congratulations! Won’t be seeing you down the Phoenix for the next three or four months then… πŸ™‚

And remember – you learned it the first time – they do sleep through. Eventually.

The same birthday as my mom, just 56 years later. Congratulations!

And are all British babies put in striped clothes? Or just those children of known criminals?

    Fantastic news!
A beautiful name as well. Two daughters, eh. You must be a glutton for punishment!

Do I see a children’s book on the horizon? Maybe something like ‘Best served with a bib?’ or ‘Last Argument of tellytubbies?’

Erm, eh yeah, I’ll just go wet the bambinos head for you.

    meala-naidheachd ort, Joe.

Congrats, Joe! What a beautiful little girl.
She doesn’t even have that newborn baby ugliness that people refuse to talk about.

Congratulations Joe and mom and Grace =)

Is Eve named after someone? I get the Battlestar Galactica reference of your firstborn ofc (Grace Park), but I’m struggeling with Eve…

    Aww, congratulations! She’s gorgeous πŸ™‚

  • Congratulations, she is gorgeous! The next three months will be sleepless but it’ll be worth it. And having three myself, the shift going from one child to two, is intense. But at least they don’t outnumber you yet! : )

Ok, now this is just frakking CRAZY: the other highly amusing creative type Joe Abercrombie I know just had his second kid like 3 weeks ago (er, his wife had their second kid) and her middle name is Grace. WTF.

And congrats, by the way. Whoever said she escaped the usual newborn grub look was quite right. If you haven’t learned how to wield the flaming sword your pool is modeled after, you’d better get a move on. 14 years isn’t that much time to become an expert. πŸ™‚

Congratulations, Joe! All the best to your wife and the girls.

  • A succesful writer, a beautiful wife and two wonderful daughters. You are sure a man to be envious of Joe!

PS: Don’t forget to pamper your wife. πŸ™‚

My congratulations! Remember to rest at every opportunity. You know, ‘they’ say that tending two children requires not much more work than tending one. And as a father of two, I can tell you that ‘they’ are utterly wrong, tending two is thrice the effort!

She’s so pretty… must take after your wife.
