UK tour dates for the Devils have been announced today, starting on UK publication date on 6th May, and they look a little something like this:

The London one is in conversation with Steven Pacey, which should be good value for I daresay you’ll get the despair not only of me talking nonsense but the joy of him reading a piece of the book to you. The Birmingham one will be in association with the UKs foremost specialist sf & fantasy booksellers, the Broken Binding. You can book tickets to the thrilling occasions right now by following this link.
As usual, I’ll try and sign everything of mine you bring but it depends a bit on queue length and schedule. Sometimes it might be necessary to impose a limit then you’ll have to hit the back of the queue if you want further books done.
Also as usual, I daresay this news will be met with many howls of “why do you never come to Chipping Norton/The Outer Hebrides/My Nan’s House?” These tours generally get worked out by the publicity department at my publisher in response to pitches from bookstores (which in the UK mostly means Waterstones). The main consideration is getting a good turn out, so events in bigger cities and with stores that have good recent track records with events or particular enthusiasm for my books tend to be prioritised. I can only apologise if that means I’m not getting close to you this time around. Maybe next time. Of course, if you really want a book signed that badly, you could always make the trip to one of the events on the list OR preorder one of various signed special editions which are gonna be announced over the coming weeks.
Currently looks as if I’m going to be in the US for two weeks directly after the UK tour, then very likely I’m going to be in France in April (including Trolls and Legends festival in Belgium), and Spain in July (including Celsius festival in Aviles) – exact details are still being finalised but I’ll post those as soon as I’m able…

Mr. Abercrombie name-dropping Chipping Norton I can’t believe it. Moments like these make it all worth it.
Any chance of you popping across the water and doing a signing in Ireland
Would love to see Ireland added on to this
I’m with Ian, pop over to Dublin, or Galway and we’ll happily ply you with Guinness and pick your brains . . . metaphorical brain picking, of course
Which St James’ Church? There are several in London.
I hope I can see you in the US! Please do some signings in the Appalachian region! Please!
Muz,
197 Piccadilly. Follow the link in the post it’ll take you to the Waterstones site and all the details are on there.
Not sure if you’ll be able to answer this, but do you know which edition comes with the tickets? I’ve already pre-ordered the standard hardback from Amazon and the Waterstones special edition – will the signing ones be different? And I know there are a few different covers for this title – are there any others I’m able to order right now? I’m in the UK!
Ella,
Pretty sure it’ll be the standard hardcover with the tickets. The Waterstones special edition is signed ahead of time and limited, so my guess is they’ll have sold out before publication. There are three other special editions that haven’t been announced – up to the retailers when they do that – a couple are subscription models and I think are already fully subscribed – but I’ll post on here as soon as any of them do become available.
Thanks for that info. I’m a Broken Binding subscriber and on the waitlist for Illumicrate so I should be sorted if they’re involved. I’m definitely going to try for all of them though!
I’ve booked for London and Nottingham and I am stupidly excited already. My book group are in the process of getting tickets for their nearest cities – I made them read your books last year and they’re big fans now
By the way, is it possible to get email alerts when you add a blog post? I’m terrible at checking regularly but I really love reading your updates.
Hi Joe! Canadian fan here.
I will buy all your new books (and have bought all your published books) and make estate stipulations to purchase any new material of yours if I happen to pass away, if you do not attend any events in the US while the current administration is in power.
Many comparisons could be made to underline why I would request this, as a humble plebian… but surely you can work out the gist.
Cheers!
“This book voucher includes admission to the event and is fully redeemable against a copy of the featured book.”
Thats from the Edinburgh one, does that mean you get admission and the book? Just unclear as the one above states including book and this doesnt.
Trine,
So the Edinburgh one is Toppings rather than Waterstones so they do it a bit differently – think they’re saying if you buy the book you get the ticket price of the event back, but check with the store.
Ooo exciting. Might book for Nottingham!
Most importantly though is what goes onto your tour rider? My sister used to work at stones and would tell me what touring authors insisted on having.
As yet no one has demanded 1000 brown M&Ms in a brandy glass, sadly.
Bought. Looking forward to meeting you in Glasgow. I apologise in advance if a become a babbling wreck.
I will have 10 books for you to sign Joe. I am not leaving until you have done so haha
No one ever visits Northern Ireland 🙁
Any chance you make it to the west coast of the United States?
As you’re a fellow Northerner, I was hoping to see you in Manchester or Leeds. Please can you ask your publicist team really really nicely if you can make a special stop there just for me (and my pals)? That at least guarantees a turn out of 2!
Hi Joe, gutted you’re not coming to Liverpool this time. I’ve met you on numerous times on previous tours and you’ve been wonderful to chat with. Rather dispelling those who say “never meet your heroes”, something I also found to be untrue on the many times I met with Lemmy and Motorhead! Hope they add Liverpool (or Chester, even better!) to the list. If not, that’s life, onwards and upwards.
See you in May in London.
The other versions, if available, it would be nice to upgrade on the day.
It’s been a while since your last tour, so hopefully it will be fun.
Are you doing any conferences this year?
A different Irish Ian to the one who posted above.
Good man, Joe. Gonna jet over to Brummy for this. I imagine it will be like darts night at the Ally Pally, but with nerds. Looking forward to it!
That’s great! I really hope the tour will also touch Italy sooner or later
Looks incredible! You are my favorite author so this is gonna be my first broken binding book ever..worth it for the art and more importantly having your autograph Will you hopefully becoming to Los Angeles,Southern California in USA?? For a Book singing/tour?
I won’t beg for you to come to a closer town/city – but when was the last time you did a signing in or around your home town?
Any chance you could visit Waterstones in Amsterdam?
I’m obviously way too late to this, and the London event is sold out. Any chance you can nudge the publicity department to consider putting on an additional event, even if later in the summer?
Hope I didn’t put you off Southampton! I somehow ended up first in line for your visit on your tour for The Heroes, and may have fanboyed a bit hard…
Any chance you come to Spain anytime soon? 🙁
My son(in Switzerland) introduced me (in SW France) to your books and I desperately want to buy him a personalised signed copy of The Devils.I might be able to get my grandson in Newcastle to buy one and get it signed
on your visit there.
Is it just a simple matter of buying a copy in Waterstones and standing in a queue?
This might sound silly but there is a lot on here about tickets etc!
Are you doing Ireland at all this time?
Ah….life is something happens when you’re busy making other plans….or just being haphazard and not planning anything. So, I have missed the tour and can’t get a ticket in Cardiff.
I wish you a serene tour, Joe. And success for your latest release. Oh – and a well earned rest!
Will you ever be coming to Belfast to do signings
