On the Spot

November 23rd, 2009

Been quite a while since I did any interviews, for some reason, but that’s all about to change, because there’s one up at BookSpotCentral conducted by Elena Nola! We discuss stylistic voices, my winding path to the dizzy heights of full-time authoring, the book I’m currently working on, and the word f*ck, among other things.

I am too good to you…

Interesting interview, good range of questions.
"you can read more about him on his usually amusing blog while you’re there" _ usually?!!!

because sometimes he gets all serious and wants to talk about misogyny and shit, swindonnick.

Joe, thanks again for the interview and for the plug!

Excellent interview, Joe, many thanks! Looking forward to your (ahem) short story coming out in 2010 – the appetiser to 2011's release of Da Heroes!

Interesting that they've placed well the advert for Jeff Vandameer's book 'Finch' – as it has your quotes all over it. A smart move by a general review site – because you can't rely on contextual adverts too much and have to keep a narrow focus on your intended readership.

Not that I bought Finch – but I did pick up your other recommendation. Oscar Wao will live with me forever!

Of course the female readers only like your books because your such a sexy looking author. haha

Nice interview. I am looking forward to your next book. (a lot)
and I am a wee bit jealous that I cannot interview you. (wrong profession).

The interview must have been fun for both of you. I enjoyed reading it.

Doing interviews? I had assumed you would be playing Dragon Age: Origins. 🙂

Seriously, though, that was a good interview. Very good questions.

  • Brushy,
I forget to mention my sexiness. How foolish of me. Usually it's the first thing on my mind at any given time.

    Heath,
Dragon Age wasn't out on the PS3 at the time the interview was conducted. Otherwise I surely would have been. I certainly am now…

Great interview, Joe. I stuck San Gimignano into google images. A very cool looking place.

I'm gagging to get my hands on Dragon age. It's on my list to Santa.

I went and bought Agarest: Generations of War. And, it sucks the bobby.

I'd love to see your take on this, I know the interview touched on it, but i've always found your style of writing realistic, brutal and funny with regards to the above topic (and pretty much in general).

Fun interview. The stuff about achieving different character voices was interesting.
